Brian Culbertson Returns to Capital Jazz Fest

In the coming weeks, Brian Culbertson, will be returning to the 2010 Capital Jazz Festival. He will be performing 7:30 Saturday evening on the Pavilion stage, following Esperanza Spalding.

Capital Jazz Fest will be held at the Merriweather Post Pavilion, June 4-6, 2010 in Columbia, MD! Attendees will enjoy three days of artists workshops, meet & greets, good food, shopping, late night parties, and sitting down, relaxing in the sun, take in some of the best jazz music today. The event kicks off with An Evening of Music and Comedy, hosted by Alonzo Bodden and will feature Gladys Knight and comedian Sinbad, Friday June 4th at 7:30pm on the Pavilion stage.

Newcomers this year include Raphael Saadiq, bassist/vocalist Esperanza Spalding, acapella group Naturally 7, as well as many others. Festival favorites returning to the stage include Kenny G, Ledisi, The Brand New Heavies, and Rachelle Ferrell.

Currently Brian Culbertson is out on the road promoting his upcoming release, which is set to drop this July! Brian is also giving fans the chance to win some really cool prizes. Through his Twitter Page he will be hosting a Video Blog Trivia Contest. Every other Thursday there will be a trivia question posted and fans can respond back with the correct answer to win that week’s prize and for a chance to be entered in for the final Grand Prize.

Each week the questions will get harder and the prize will get bigger. It starts off with an autographed copy of his upcoming record and leads to the Grand Prize, 2 Brian Culbertson tickets to any show within the coming year, 2 round trip business class tickets (provided by Airtran Airways) and a private meet & greet before the show!

Brian Culbertson tour date and ticket news

Brain Culbertson is hosting an online UStream web chat for his fans TONIGHT at 5 p.m. Culbertson’s official Web site says the chat will be about “the making of my upcoming album, BCXII (working title) which is due in stores in July of this year. I will be taking questions live and will answer them as they come in. Hopefully, I’ll be able to do this once a month leading up to the release date. Nice!!!”

Brian Culbertson tickets are sporadic this year, with only three stops in the U.S. (March 25 and 26, and May 15). He’s scheduled for six dates for London’s “Pizza in the Park” and “A Week of Cool Jazz & Soul at Sea” in October.

Brian Culbertson touring with Dave Koz

Brian Culbertson is finishing up his travels with Dave Koz, bringing their brand of jazz to fans throughout the country.

The duo, with special guest Peabo Bryson, have one more stop on September 24th at the Western Washington Fairgrounds in Puyallup, Wash., on September 24th.

Koz is supporting “Dave Koz – Greatest Hits,” and Culbertson is traveling behind “Bringing Back the Funk.” Both debuted at No.1 on Billboard’s Top Contemporary Jazz Albums when they were released.
